Hero City Brest and the Brest Fortress, Belarus, May 25, 2018
Susan's Story, Summer in Europe, 2018
It was a very long drive from Minsk through the Belarussian countryside toward Warsaw when we came to the large modern city of Brest. Proclaimed "Hero City" by Stalin for it's long resistance to sieging Nazi troops it remains a monument to the struggle in WWII. The presentation and monuments were very moving. Both Hitler and Mussolini visited this fortress during their visits to the front. Worth the drive but we wish we had spent the night here and not have to drive back to Minsk. /susanClick a photo to view or click first photo to see a slide show.
