Fort Snelling, Minnesota, Friday, July 28, 2017
Located at the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers, this fort was instrumental in establishing the United States' influence in the area and was the main outpost for our interests during the Dakota War. It remained active from 1820 to 1946. The beautiful chapel is still in use and was the home of Dred Scott and his wife Harriet. There were docents in period costume in all of the buildings and a wonderful museum. /hugh
