Vigur Island, Iceland, August 15, 2016
Susan's Story, Voyage of the Vikings, July 2016
This morning we explored wonderful Isafjordur and walked to the waterfall as we had done on our last visit in 2010 but this afternoon we journeyed about an hour away by boat to Vigur Island to view birds, especially the puffin and eider duck. We loved seeing the puffins fish and fly around with their catch. We also enjoyed seeing how the down from the eider duck's nest is gathered for use by the farmer. There was a windmill that was used for over 100 years until 99 years ago but still preserved by a trust. A wonderful visit despite cold weather and occasional rain! /susanClick a photo to view or click first photo to see a slide show.
